An Octoballoon is an enemy from A Link to the Past.
A Link to the Past
A Link to the Past (SNES)
The Octoballoon appears just southeast of Lake Hylia in A Link to the Past. Only a single Octoballoon appears in the entire game.
Its appearance is similar to that of an Octorok, except it is significantly bloated. Filled with air, the Octoballoon floats above the ground, but the air flowing in becomes too much as it will cause the Octoballoon to burst into eight smaller creatures that resemble miniature Octoroks. These mini-enemies will bounce around for a few seconds and then they will disappear.
Link is able to hit the Octoballoon before it blows up, but doing so is rather pointless, as it will blow itself up momentarily. Furthermore, Link can defeat the mini-octoballoons left behind, but they disappear in just a matter of seconds. These mini-octoroks will do a 1/2 heart of damage if they come into contact with Link.
A Link to the Past (GBA)
"BOOOM! Skitter-scatter... What is it?"
In the Game Boy Advance port of A Link to the Past, "Octoballoon" is the answer to the fifth riddle in Q. Bumpkin's Riddle Quest. While Link cannot take a full-size octoballoon, he must capture one of the small octoballoons in his Bug-Catching Net, put it in Bumpkin's basket and bring it to him to answer the question.
