Yesterday we officially launched the Zelda Dungeon Wiki and things are already starting to pick up. We are closing in on 200 articles at the Wiki and many of the established articles have received notable additions. Every so often here at the site we are going to be featuring specific wiki articles that the fans and staff have polished up to the point where we think they are good representatives of what the quality of our Wiki stands for.

Our first featured article is of the Deku Baba. These carnivorous plant enemies first made their appearance way back with Ocarina of Time, and have since shown up in Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, and are set to appear in Skyward Sword. Deku Baba have retained some of their major characteristics, but with each game there have been some notable changes. Jump inside to read more on these pesky plant enemies.

In Ocarina of Time Deku Baba were latched to the ground and would lunge towards Link whenever he got close. They were quite easy to defeat with simple sword slashes or projectile attacks defeating them almost instantly. Deku Baba served as great resources early on in the game to acquiring Deku Nuts and Deku Sticks. There was a more difficult variation known as a Big Deku Baba as well as an incredibly simple version in the Withered Deku Baba.

When Majora’s Mask rolled around, Deku Baba made a reappearance in a similar fashion. While Deku Babas had many of the same characteristics, brand new variations such as Mini Baba and Bio Deku Baba appeared and provided no challenge and unique challenges respectively. Bio Deku Baba would live on even after they were cut from their stems. Twilight Princess saw the return of the Deku Baba with several new variations such as the Baba Serpent, Big Baba, Twilit Baba, and even the boss of the Forest Temple, Diababa.

Now with Skyward Sword getting ever-so-closer, we’ve already seen two variations of the Deku Baba. The standard blue deku baba can be seen, as well as the new golden deku baba. While they resemble deku baba of old, the way you must defeat them is significantly different as they are now based around the Wii Motion Plus controls. Who knows, maybe there will be even more variations of the Deku Baba in Skyward Sword?

Be sure to head on over to the Deku Baba article to find out more information. While you are at it, feel free to add or edit any information that you deem necessary. As you can see on that page, there are links to several other related articles, as well as links to articles that currently don’t even exist. This is where you can come in! Help us out by improving the Wiki and creating or editing new articles. Every little bit helps and it’s a great way to help push Zelda Dungeon forward. As always, your comments and suggestions are much appreciated, so feel free to voice your thoughts below.
