After the convergence of the eras closed, a new part of the War Era began. Hyrule had become immensely advanced in its technology, and monsters were no longer a threat, except for one. The royal family heard a prophecy that the signs of [[Ganon#Breath of the Wild|Calamity Ganon's]] would be clear, and said that the power to oppose him lay dormant beneath the ground. The king began excavating the ground to find the power before Ganon rose again. They soon discovered the [[Guardian]]s and the Divine Beasts.
Four Champions were selected to control the Divine Beasts: [[Mipha]], [[Daruk]], [[Revali]], and [[Urbosa]]. [[Zelda]] was pressured by her father to unlock the power to stop the Calamity, but the power remained outside her grasp until it was almost too late.

Ganon took control of the Guardians and sent monsters to plague the Divine Beasts. Hyrule Castle was purged and the Champions were cut down. As the Guardians closed in on the princess and Link, Link's own time came. The Guardians shot him down. It was only then that Zelda tamed her power. She destroyed the Guardians.
