Experience Points

Experience, or EXP for short, is a reaccuring system found in The Legend of Zelda series. Experience is a system used to track how many enemies Link has defeated. To achieve this effect enemies, will drop experience points upon death. Normal enemies typically drop a small amount of experience, whereas mini-bosses and bosses drop a large amount.

Levels

Levels are attained when the player reaches a specific experience threshold as designed by the developer. The amount of EXP needed to reach the next level typically goes up exponentially.  As an example, you might need 5 experience points to reach level one, 10 to reach level two, 20 to reach level three, and 40 to reach level four. Unlike EXP levels,  usually come with upgrades for Link. These can include, but are not limited to, health, defense, attack, and occasionally magic.
