320px-super_smash_bros_4_merged_logo_no_subtitle_7136 Nintendo is once again bringing trophy collecting back as an element of the latest Super Smash Bros. games on Wii U and 3DS. This news was brought to our attention through a post to Miiverse from Masahiro Sakurai, with the first revealed trophy of the 3DS version: Ocarina of Time’s own Saria.

As it turns out, the trophy system this time around will work the same way as the stages between the two games: the Wii U version will have trophies of things from home console games, while the 3DS version will have ones from portable games. If anything, I believe this may cause a lesser amount of trophies to collect for each game than in the past, as Melee and Brawl had trophies of elements of both portable and console games.

Also, this may answer some fans’ questions about the sigle-player mode. Many people, after hearing a quote from Sakurai about Brawl‘s cutscenes, believed that there would be no single-player modes at all, but he did only mention the cutscenes themselves were not being included, meaning he could very well just be making a cutscene-free story mode. This reveal of trophies only adds credence to this, as trophies were mainly, if not solely collected in single player modes in the past.

Are you glad to see the return of trophies? What other trophies from Zelda and other game universes do you expect to see in the final game? Comment below!
