Daily Debate: What Zelda Game Story Would Adapt Best to the Movie Screen?

With the Legend of Zelda movie announcement, there have been ideas flying all over the internet about what a movie could possibly entail. I think all fans can agree that we are both excited and slightly wary of how well our favorite hero and princess will be portrayed on the big screen. I’ve been pondering a lot lately about the different stories we have seen in this series over the years, and I can’t help but wonder which story would stand well on it’s own if it was adapted into a film.
The first few games that come to mind when I think of the cinema is Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and maybe Breath of the Wild (if the story was more linear and less pieced together). Skyward Sword would also be a contender, but seeing that the movie is live action, I’m not sure if all the whimsicality in that game would translate well into film. I’m sure the film will come up with it’s own story to share with us, but I bet we will get some easter eggs and elements from our favorite adventures thrown in for us fans.
For me, I think Skyward Sword as a movie would be brilliant to start up the series and get the newcomers familiar with Zelda lore. But seeing that it might not translate well to live-action, the second option I would go with is Ocarina of Time, which has a beautifully-told narrative that I think would be low-hanging fruit for the producers of the Zelda movie. However, I’m sure they will come up with a fantastic tale that’s worthy to us fans.
