The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Towairaito Purinsesu) is the 13th installment in The Legend of Zelda series. Set over a century after the events of Majora's Mask, the game follows Link as he attempts to save Hyrule from being subsumed by the Twilight Realm, an alternate dimension wreathed in shadow - along the way, Link is able to transform between the forms of a Hylian and a wolf, and is aided by Midna, a mysterious imp native to the Twilight Realm. The game features a notably darker, more realistic art style compared to its predecessor, The Wind Waker - this has been interpreted as a response to the backlash that Wind Waker, particularly in the West, received for its brightly-colored, cel-shaded art style.

The game was originally planned to release for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, but was delayed so that Nintendo could expand upon the content and create a port for the Nintendo Wii. The Wii version was released as a launch title in November 2006 in North America, and was released the following month in Japan, Europe, and Australia; the GameCube version was released in December 2006, as the final first-party title on the console. Upon release, Twilight Princess received critical acclaim and won several Game Of The Year awards, being cited as one of the greatest video games of all time. It is the second-best selling Zelda game behind Breath of the Wild, having sold over 8.85 million copies as of 2015, and the Wii port received a "Nintendo Selects" label in 2011. A remaster of the GameCube version, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, was released for the Wii U in March 2016.

This game's story takes place after the Child Ending of Ocarina of Time, when that generation's Princess Zelda sent the Hero of Time back in time to prevent the events of Ocarina of Time and allowed him to live out his childhood.

This game's story is believed to take place after The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, when Zelda sent Link back in time to live out his childhood in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
This generation's Link lives a peaceful life in Ordon Village as a goat herder and animal wrangler. He is a valuable friend to both the village and forest. One day, Link is given the opportunity to visit Castle Town as an envoy to present a specially crafted sword to the royal family. Before Link embarks, however, tragedy strikes the village and he is forced to leave his tranquil life behind. Link must venture forth into the vast land of Hyrule to bring peace back to his village and, along the way, uncover the secret behind the mysterious Twilight.

The story unfolds in Ordon Village, a small farmering town in Southern Ordin Province. One day a character named Rusl gets instructions to deliver a gift to the Royal Family of Hyrule, but he offers the job to Link instead. Link agrees to deliver the gift, and gets ready to leave in two days. The next day, Link is given a Fishing Rod and uses it to catch a fish for the cat that wouldn't leave the pond. He then gets a Bottle in return.
Characters
Twilight Princess Characters

Link saves up money to buy a Slingshot, and then shows the local kids how to use it. After the lesson, Link is given a Wooden Sword, and shows the kids how to use that as well. This acts as a kind of tutorial to get the player used to using the sword. After that lesson, a monkey comes out of the woods and the kids decide to chase it. Unfortunately, one of the kids (Talo) and the monkey gets caught in a trap and Link has to go save them.
Twilight Princess features its own set of support characters, most of whom live in Castle Town, Kakariko Village, or Ordon Village.

(The remaining of this section is in need of a major re-write/cleanup)
Ashei (25)
A member of the Resistance, a group of people seeking to restore Hyrule.

The next morning, after herding goats, Link is ready to go. Link's friend Ilia notices that Epona is injured and takes her away to Ordon Spring to heal her. When Link goes to the spring to get her back, the Bulblin King and some Bulblin Riders come crashing through the gate. They kidnap Ilia and the other children, as well as scaring Epona away. Link is knocked unconscious by a rider, and left there alone. Link soon wakes up and runs across the bridge towards the woods looking for Ilia and the kids. He is pulled through a newly placed black wall by a Twilight Beast, who drops him when a Triforce Symbol appears on his hand. Soon after entering the Twilight, Link turns into a wolf, when he goes unconscious again and is dragged away. Link is taken to Hyrule Castle (although he doesn't know it at the time) and imprisoned in the cellars. There, he meets Midna, a mysterios character who doesn't fully reveal who she is until much later in the game. She help Link escape, but tells him he must obey everything she says. He finally makes it to the top f the tallest tower, where he meets Princess Zelda for the first time. She tells him through a cutscene of the recent battle that ensued in Hyrule. How Zant, an evil sorcerer, and his Twilight Beasts killed many soldiers, and how she finally was forced to surrender.
Auru (60)
Senior member of the Resistance.

After leaving Zelda, Link and Midna escape from the Twilight and return to Ordon, where they acquire a sword and a shield, the very things Link was originally supposed to bring to Hyrule Castle as gifts. On their way back to the Twilight, Link and Midna are stopped outside Ordon Spring where they meet Ordona, the first Light Spirit in the game. There Link fights his first Twilight Beast. Link and Midna then go to the Twilight-covered Faron Woods where they meet the shattered remains of the Light Spirit Faron. He gives them the Vessel of Light so they can find the Tears of Light and restore light to the Faron Province. After that, they meet the revitalized Faron, and Link finds out that he is the chosen hero of destiny.
Barnes (39)
A resident of Kakariko Village and owner of the Bomb Shop.

Link and Midna then go to the forest temple where they get the Gale Boomerang and defeat Diababa. After that, they are granted the first Fused Shadow. Faron then tells them to go to the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN). On his way there, Link is stopped just outside the Wall of Twilight by The Postman. Continuing on, Link and Midna go into the Twilight and find Link's Wooden Sword, which he gave to Talo awhile back. Since Link is a wolf at this time, he can smell the kids; he follows the scent to a broken bridge and three Twilight Beasts.
Beth (10)
A young girl in Link's village who is the daughter of Hanch and Sera.

After going to Faron Woods to recover the bridge, Link and Midna continue on to Kakariko Village, where they find the shattered form of the Light Spirit Eldin. Once again, they search Kakariko and Death Mountain for the Tears of Light, this time to restore light to Eldin Province. After doing so, Link is reuinited with the kids at last, but one person is still missing. Where's Ilia? Anyway, Link talks to the kids and meets a new character, Renado, who tells Link about the Gorons at Death Mountain and how they are in an uncontrollable rage. After Link tries to go up to Death Mountain and is knocked back by a Goron, Renado tells him that Bo, the Mayor of Ordon, could beat the Gorons in strength contests.
Borville (?)
The Castle Town's only medical doctor who has excellent credentials, but is biased and often unhelpful.

Link begins preparing to leave Kakariko, but then Epona comes riding in with two Bulblins on her back. After handling her, Link can ride her to Ordon. When he meets with Bo, Link gets a quick sumo lesson and Bo gives him the Iron Boots. With these in hand, Link returns to Death Mountain, fighting off the Gorons along to way, until he finally reaches a large room with lots of Gorons who are prepared to fight. The Goron Elder, Gor Coron, comes out and tells Link that if he can win against him in a contest of strength, he will grant him entry into the Goron mines to save the Goron Patriarch, Darbus. Link defeats Gor Coron in a sumo match and is allowed into the Goron Mines; inside, he finds the Bow and gets the three pieces of the key to Darbus's room from the other three Goron elders (Gor Amoto, Gor Ebizo, and Gor Liggs). When he gets to Darbus's room, Darbus turns into a monster called Fyrus. By defeating Fyrus, Link saves Darbus and takes the Fused Shadow that corrupted him.
Chudley (32)
Runs a very swanky store in Castle Town.

Link then travels to the Lanayru Province, which is also covered in Twilight. There, he meets the Light Spirit Lanayru and saves the province from Twilight. After doing so, he is reunited with Ilia, who is in the care of the bartender Telma. The two of them are taking care of a collapsed Zora child name Prince Ralis. Link quickly escorts them to Kakariko village where Ralis and Ilia are put into Renado’s care; Ilia has lost her memory, and apparently retrieving it is no simple task. Prince Ralis's dead mother Rutela then grants Link the Zora Armor.
Colin (9)
The son of Rusl and Uli. He is meek, mild and timid, but good-natured like his parents.

Link heads to Lake Hylia where he enters the Water Temple. Here, he gets the clawshot and defeats Morpheel, granting him the third and final Fused Shadow. With these in hand, Link and Midna return to Lanayru Spring, where they learn the story of the Dark Interlopers. At the spring, they quite literally bump into Zant, who hurts Midna by trapping her in the Light World even though the light is not good for her. Link and Midna then return to Hyrule Castle, where Zelda grants Midna the power to survive in the Light World.
Coro (16)
A gatekeeper living in a cottage and eking out a subsistence in Ordon Woods, Coro is content with his primitive surrounding. City dwellers refer to him as a "bumpkin". Coro is the younger brother of Iza and the older brother of Hena.

Link and Midna go back to Faron Woods to a hidden portion called the Sacred Grove. Here, they find the Legendary Blade of Evil’s Bane, the Master Sword. They then go to the Gerudo Desert, which is the location of the Arbiter’s Grounds. Here, they defeat Stallord, who is powered by Zant. Afterwards, they head outside to find the Mirror of Twilight, which is broken into four pieces. They also meet the Sages and learn about Ganondorf, who apparently holds the Triforce of Power. The Sages sent him into the Twilight Realm after a failed execution.
Fado (17)
Works with Link in the same farmhouse.

Next, Link and Midna go to Snowpeak, the home of Yeto and Yeta, to recover a cursed mirror shard that possessed Yeta, turning her into Blizzeta. Next, they return to the Sacred Grove and enter the Temple of Time, where they find the Dominion Rod and recover another mirror shard from Armoghoma. They then return to Kakariko, where they meet Shad, who tells them about the sky beings known as the Oocca.
Falbi
Is a former circus member. He has begun a small business awarding fabulous prizes for those who can grab a Cucco by the legs and pilot it to a small platform down on Lake Hylia,

Gor Coron tells Link to go to the Hidden Village near the Bridge of Eldin. There, Link and Midna find Impaz, who is the last of the Sheikah. She gives Link the Skybook, which allows Shad to read a word that moves the statue in the basement. Link gets a wooden statue from Castle Town, as well as a Horse Call from Impaz, which, combined, give Ilia her memory back. Link goes back to Kakariko and shows the book to Shad, who gives him the location of the remaining owl statues around Hyrule. Link goes and moves them all, restoring the full word, which removes the seal on the owl statue in Kakariko. Link moves it and finds a cannon, which allows him to access the City in the Sky, home of the Oocca.
Fyer
Is a former circus member. He has recently started his own small business firing folks from a cannon. He is a great mechanic specializing in rebuilding old cannons.

Link defeats the Dragon Argarok, thus granting him the final mirror shard. With all three shards in hand, Link and Midna return to the Mirror of Twilight and enter the Palace of Twilight. Here, Link recovers the two Sols, thus bringing the power of light to the Master Sword. Link and Midna then go to defeat Zant once and for all, but find out that he is just a puppet and the real bad guy is Ganondorf. Link and Midna return to Hyrule Castle once more, where they face off with Ganondorf. Link stabs him in the stomach with the Master Sword, which finishes him. Midna is then revealed to be a beautiful princess. She, Link, and Zelda return to the Mirror Chamber and say their final goodbyes; as Midna leaves, she shatters the mirror of Twilight into a million pieces so that nothing can enter or leave the Twilight Realm ever again.
Hanch (40)
Beth's father and Sera's husband. He runs the only commodity shop in the village.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (トワイライトプリンセス) is the 13th installment in The Legend of Zelda series.
