The video takes you from blank canvas through…

It takes some talent to paint something Zelda related and make it look as if it could actually be a screenshot from one of the games. That’s basically what reddit user benthunderbolt did with a few of his oil paintings that he shared with fellow Zelda fans over on Imgur. This one here is of the opening screen from Ocarina of Time. It’s so well done, and so identical to the real deal, I can almost see Link and Epona…

I am always a huge fan of Zelda themed artwork, and YouTube member Adam Scythe recently posted a time lapse video of a watercolor painting of a scene from The Legend of Zelda. The video is a little over three and a half minutes and covers almost two hours of work showing off his skills and recreating the famous scene from Legend of Zelda when the old man gave Link his first sword. The video shows you the whole process…

In January, Zelda Dungeon reported on a collection of incredibly realistic Zelda artwork produced by online artist Nate Hallinan including hyper-detailed depictions of a Goron and a Skulltula. At the time, Hallinan was working on a realistic re-imagining of the forest-dwelling Deku Scrub as well, having already produced a series of preliminary sketches. He recently put the finishing touches on his Deku Scrub painting, and it can be seen in full after the jump.

In the recent Iwata Asks, the team discussed the development of A Link Between Worlds. Like many of Nintendo’s games, the creation of A Link Between Worlds was quite an ordeal. Because Zelda games take so many resources, the beginning of the newest game’s development was rather rocky. Luckily for us, however, A Link Between Worlds is being released in just a few days with stellar reviews. Hit the jump to see what was in the A Link Between Worlds prototype!

There’s something about this kind of realism that I like when drawing fictional characters, possibly because it’s so rarely done. We’re all familiar with the way Zelda characters looks standardly, but with this kind of artwork, you might look over a Zelda painting. For example, did you guess already that the title image is skull kid? The skull kind of gives it away, but it’s still so radically different from the actual artwork that the image really throws you off. Interested…

The Legend of Zelda series has seen some amazing boss fights over the years, but if there’s one that sticks out for me, it’s the fight against Phantom Ganon at the end of the Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time. If you want to come out of that one alive, you require both skill with the controller and the ability to discern the boss’ patterns; and let’s not forget that it’s one of the most aesthetically pleasing in the series….
