For those of you Zelda fans that are enjoying Mario Kart 8 (and we know many of you are, given we play in two very specific Zelda Informer community tournaments every week), you may already be aware that the update is available for download right now. For those not aware… consider yourself informed! The free Mercedes Benz DLC is now available, along with some feature updates like the mini map included on the TV and increasing how high online ratings can go. Beyond that, however, you can now order up your Zelda DLC pack for the game…

Today Nintendo amazed us all with the announcement of two new packs of DLC for Mario Kart 8, which will consist sixteen new tracks based around various Nintendo games and the inclusion of Link as a playable character. This marks the second times that Nintendo releases Zelda-themed DLC for their games, after the brilliant content for Sonic Lost World that came out a few months ago. Excited as we all are for the DLC, it does raise a very important question…

Maybe dreams do come true. Link will be making his way into Mario Kart 8 as a DLC character along with a few new tracks. The pack includes, well, Link! The hero of Hyrule! The version of Link featured is from Skyward Sword, and he looks right at home next to his Mario Brothers (I MADE A PUN!) His karts also get the Hylian crest!

Mario Kart 8 proved to be just the kind of game Nintendo needed to boost Wii U sales and it looks like it’s about to get even better. With a surprising announcement, the Nintendo UK website has posted information about new DLC coming to Mario Kart 8 that involves new courses, karts, and even a certain Hylian hero you might just be familiar with. We’ve been playing around with this for awhile on social media and now it’s time to finally make this official: we’re going to be hosting a handful of select Mario Kart 8 Tournaments every single week for the foreseeable future. The tournaments will all vary in style and type. We also have a general “Zelda Informer Club”, which is a daily “tournament” that runs all day long with 32 races. With Hyrule Warriors finished and so close to release, not to mention all the Zelda U hype, it’s extremely easy to forget that the Wii U is already home to a top notch Zelda title. The Wind Waker HD might be a remake, but it’s a beautiful and masterfully created one too: something thousands of fans have surely learned in the last few months thanks to its part in the Mario Kart 8 promotion. As many are aware, buying Mario Kart 8 and registering it on Club Nintendo before July 31st alows you to download one of four Wii U games for free, including The Wind Waker HD. Unfortunately, due to certain issues with Club Nintendo, ever since the release of Mario Kart 8, many people have been deprived of their free games. Nintendo has touched upon the issue on twitter. In just under a month Nintendo will be running a promotion where you can get a free download game, including The Wind Waker HD, if you purchase and register Mario Kart 8.
