Greetings, all you good people. How about we end the week off right with a good ol’ Zelda Informer Photoshop Contest? There has been a lot of Nintendo 80’s nostalgia going around this week. The NES Classic is letting gamers re-experience the 8-Bit generation, and many are playing the original Zelda games for the first time. This week’s contest will hopefully play off that nostalgia. Join us, and don’t forget to check out the winners from last week’s contest: Turn a Zelda Character into a Presidential Candidate.

Last Week’s Contest:

Donald Trump may have won the election, but we still wanted to play around with the idea of a Zelda character fighting for the vote.

This Week’s Contest: 80’s Zelda Advertisements

Nintendo has really turned up the 80’s nostalgia lately. The release of the NES Classic has given gamers the chance to relive so many classic games, like The Legend of Zelda. And Famitsu even ran a cool retro ad for Breath of the Wild featuring artwork from that NES original. With all the 80’s goodness flying around, we wanted to jump on the nostalgic train.

The contest this week is to ‘shop together an 80’s-inspired Zelda advertisement. You can submit your own magazine ad for the Zelda games of NES past, or you can post a screenshot from some fake 80’s Zelda commercial. You can even submit a retro-style advertisement for the upcoming Breath of the Wild. Whatever you run with, feel free to use the images in our gallery below or anything you may find on the internet.

General Rules: Submit your entries in the comments section below.

  • To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without opening the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
  • Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
  • Some hand-drawn fan art is okay, but your entry must include some image manipulation to be considered.
  • If you use another fan’s original assets or likeness, please try to give them credit.
  • Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
  • Have fun and be creative!

Deadline: Submit entries no later than Thursday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on November 17. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.

Don’t forget to check back throughout the week and upvote your favorites, and maybe you will be one of next week’s winners!

Challenge Mode

For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a few Challenge Rules for you to follow:

1. Your entry must include a celebrity endorsement.

2. Your entry must include a piece of non-game Zelda merchandise from the 80’s.

Good luck!
