Some Zelda fans like to fantasize what newer games of the series would have looked like if they existed in days past. Anywhere you look online, there are theories, animation “demakes”, and parody videos that suppose what the present day of Zelda would have looked like if made a couple of decades earlier. This even rings true for the Breath of the Wild sequel.

Visual effects artist The Regressor on YouTube recently released what they’re calling a “Nintendo E3 1999” trailer for the upcoming sequel. Supposedly coming to the Nintendo 64 DiskDrive, the sequel to “Breath of the Wild 64” is teased with glorious polygons, as is the actual E3 2019 announcement teaser trailer for the sequel is recreated for older hardware. The Regressor takes the character models and graphics seen in Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, and makes us wonder what may have been.

In my opinion, this is just absolutely amazing. The attention to detail on every scene from the E3 2019 trailer is well executed. Even adding the N64 Zelda HUD in certain moments during the trailer was a nice touch.

What do you think of this trailer? Would you have loved to play a Zelda like this back in the day? Let us know in the comments below!
