There is a lot of goodies to be found in this short interview with Eiji Aonuma. He talks about Wii Motion Plus and the Skyward Sword swordplay rather extensively, talking about how things came to be. It’s quite interesting that the graphics for the game were decided on because of Wii Motion Plus. Aonuma states that they were working out the battling system prior to when the graphical design was complete and that it would have been awkward to use the more realistic Twilight Princess graphics for enemies as they really wanted to try to emphasis weak points for the swordplay and the brighter, more water-colored system was perfect for this. Aonuma goes on to talk about the change of the standard, field, dungeon, field, dungeon system that has been in Zelda for quite some time now, stating that dungeons won’t be as predictable this time around, with there being more to do than just defeating enemies, getting and item, and beating a boss.

Lot’s of goodies here and I’m excited to hear more! We probably won’t hear much in the form of new Skyward Sword news for awhile now and the game isn’t set to ship until 2011. Be sure to check back here at Zelda Dungeon and take a look at our Skyward Sword section for all the latest content. Also be sure to bookmark our Skyward Sword Walkthrough which we will be provide once the game ships.
