Daily Debate: Would You Like a Third Entry in the Breath of the Wild Universe?
Posted on August 13 2023 by Chakell Herbert
Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are two rare Zelda games that take place in the same version of Hyrule, complete with the same map, the same NPCs, and even the same horses! Tears of the Kingdom modified the map and story enough to stand on its own, without Breath of the Wild. But as more time passes since I finished this masterpiece of a game, the more I really do not want to say goodbye to this incarnation of Link and Zelda who have held my heart for the past six years. I have loved seeing their relationship blossom and their characters develop.
Could there be a possibility for a third entry in their adventures together?
Here me out. I know we are all probably sick of the same version of Hyrule at this point. But what if we followed this Link and Zelda elsewhere? Maybe to a new land? Or even to the past? Last I checked, Zelda still had her Secret Stone at the end of the game and Link also still had the Master Sword.
Is their adventuring together over? Or could this universe hold the first ever Zelda trilogy? What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

She has loved The Legend of Zelda series since she was a little girl because of its equal mix of princesses, besting bad guys, and heartfelt stories. Chakell lives in the overall tame state of Utah, but holds onto her childhood hopes to find an adventure in her backyard one day. She has a degree in English and is a full-time editor for a magazine. You can usually find her gaming (obviously), laughing with her husband, taking a long time to tell stories because she keeps getting distracted; getting sucked into books and podcasts; or snuggling her cute Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
