Daily Debate: What New Songs Do You Hope to Hear in the Upcoming Zelda Concert?

To the surprise of many a Zelda fan, Nintendo recently announced an online The Legend of Zelda Orchestra Concert for February 9th at 5 AM Pacific Time on Nintendo’s YouTube channels. This was quite shocking, as there’s been nary a word of Zelda‘s orchestral return since the last concert in 2018, save for one appearance in 2023.

Since 2018, two major installments have made their way into the Zelda franchise, namely Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Shortly before the 2018 concert, The Champions’ Ballad DLC for Breath of the Wild was released, giving us a fair number of new tracks to enjoy. Fast-forward to 2019, and we have the release of indie collaboration Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda. Needless to say, there’s plenty of new and untouched material for the orchestra to pull from.

Some tracks are a given, such as Tears of the Kingdom‘s main theme, one I’m especially excited to hear. Tracks like “Lookout Landing/Basecamp,” “Rauru,” various boss themes, and the final boss suite are all high contenders for inclusion. What I’d really like are a suite based around dungeons, Shrines, and caves, a suite of non-boss battles, the Hyrule Castle suite, and of course, “Last Catch.”

I’m less certain about tracks from the other games and DLC mentioned above being included, but one can hope. It would be quite the treat to hear the main theme, “The Knight Who Seals the Darkness,” a Yiga Clan suite, “Astor’s Theme” plus “Astor, Prophet of Doom,” and “Decisive Fight against Calamity Ganon” from Age of Calamity. Meanwhile, “The Champions’ Ballad” and “Monk Maz Koshia” are both musts from the Breath of the Wild DLC. Finally, to hear “Gleeokenspiel” from Cadence of Hyrule would be a dream come true.

I should also say that, even though it’s extremely unlikely, I’d love to see the original Hyrule Warriors get some love, especially since it’s the game’s tenth anniversary this year. Whatever we get, I’m just happy to see a Zelda concert return in some form. Hopefully this is a sign that the series will once again begin its musical tour around the world in the near future.
