Video game music covers and rearrangements can come from a variety of different genres, but one of the genres from which I love hearing video game covers is LoFi. I thoroughly enjoy the slightly off-kilter tempos, beautiful melodies, and gorgeous retro sounds that are hallmarks of video game LoFi music. Whether a person has LoFi on in the background when relaxing or studying, or if they have it as the focus of the listener’s attention, LoFi music can put listeners in a special state of mind.

This glorious LoFi fan album by Helynt is a great example of how incredible LoFi Zelda arrangements can be. Titled Zelda’s Memories, this album includes music from Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild. The soundtracks for these four 3D Zelda games are regularly ranked among the best soundtracks in the series, so it is no wonder that artists return to the music of these games over and over again.

Zelda’s Memories includes twelve beautiful track:

  • “Zelda’s Lullaby”
  • “Ballad of the Goddess”
  • “Lost Woods”
  • “Great Fairy Fountain”
  • “Zora’s Domain”
  • “Sidon’s Theme”
  • “Gerudo Valley”
  • “Hyrule Field” (from Twilight Princess)
  • “Minuet of Forest”
  • “Main Theme” (Breath of the Wild)
  • “Sheik’s Theme”
  • “Lon Lon Ranch”

Overall, while the entire album is a joy to listen to, there are a few tracks that truly stand out to me. This soothing LoFi version of “Zelda’s Lullaby” feels perfect for taking a rest after a long, stressful day. “Sheik’s Theme” is another great track on the album. While shorter than many of the other songs, the beautiful melody never outstays its welcome. Finally, it was exciting to see Breath of the Wild get some love with “Sidon’s Theme”. Sidon has become one of the most popular characters to emerge from the game, and this version of “Sidon’s Theme” is a great new arrangement of the song.
