Allow me to start by saying that I consider myself a veteran fan of the Zelda series. My journey started with Ocarina of Time and I’ve been able to see the series grow over more than 20 years. When “Breath of the Wild 2” was in production, many veteran fans wanted more of what they considered “traditional” elements of the series (themed puzzle-box dungeons, the Triforce back in the story, an actual difficult fight with Ganon/Ganondorf, differentiated bosses and more of a linear…

Through the unique stories, characters, equipment, and gameplay mechanics, each Zelda game has a distinct identity. While there are recurring elements, some installments like Twilight Princess have the distinction of having unique items no other game has. Which one-off items or power-ups were your favorites, and which ones do you wish would return in another Zelda game? For me, it’s the Bunny Hood. In Majora’s Mask, the Bunny Hood grants super speed to the wearer, allowing Link to move much…

In an interview with Famitsu, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom director Hidemaro Fujibayashi recently revealed that the game’s Depths “were made in a surprisingly short period of time.”  Alongside The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma, Fujibayashi shed some light on some of Tear’s of the Kingdom’s darkest corners, and thanks to Nintendo Everything’s English translation, we’re able to gain a little of their insight. Fujibayashi elaborated that it was the “base landforms of the Depths”…

With the return of Gleeoks in Tears of the Kingdom, one of the oldest Legend of Zelda enemies finally got a facelift from pixels to full 3D (a two-headed, submerged Gleeok did make a short appearance as a boss in Phantom Hourglass, but you only see the heads). It was exciting to see one of the original villains make a reappearance and go from a small sprite in The Legend of Zelda and Oracle of Seasons to a two-story-tall terror…

We asked YOU the listener for your fan questions last week, and you did not disappoint! We have a whole bevy of topics to cover, including: what hardware and software features do we want from the Switch 2? Who is the greatest Zelda NPC? Does it bother us that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom seemingly don’t care about the Zelda timeline? Speaking of, are we really going to get a ten-year Breath of the Wild 4K/HD…

For years, Zelda fans have clamored for a dungeon maker game akin to Super Mario Maker. Nintendo experimented with a Zelda dungeon designer in the mini-game challenge in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (2019); unfortunately, the lack of customization and user control led most to feel disappointed. Now, thanks to game developer James Richards at Squish Studios, Zelda fans have another shot to build their own dungeons and challenge their friends. Super Dungeon Designer is entering the last week of its Kickstarter campaign and still needs…

Earlier this month, composer Marcus Hedges announced his orchestral tribute to Twilight Princess titled Hyrule in Half-Light. The album is now available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music. Hedges does an excellent job of both provoking nostalgia with familiar themes and making the tracks sound new and fresh. Alternate arrangements of main melodies, different instrumentation, and added vocals provide plenty of variety. Each song feels new enough that even someone who has listened to the Twilight Princess soundtrack since it…

Another Nintendo Direct has come and gone without much news about our favorite franchise. Every time, I get an inkling of hope that we will hear news about two of the most iconic and largest adventures in the series, The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess; but alas, I’m disappointed each time. It’s really been convenient to have ports of older Zelda games like Majora’s Mask, Oracle of Seasons, and even The Minish Cap on the Switch. So why not these…

A Nintendo Direct can quite possibly be summed up as the “mini-Christmas” we gamers get multiple times a year. Starting back in 2011, Nintendo’s unique way of announcing their upcoming projects has become a cornerstone of the video game industry. Through the use of online platforms, the company was ahead of the curve in showing how “to the point” a gaming presentation can be. I mean, look what was just dropped on our doorstep with the most recent Direct. We…

Last year, fan artist Stoic Seraphim set out on a mission to reimagine the entire Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster in a Fierce Deity skin. As of September 15th– everyone is here! Digitally drawing all 82 characters is an amazing feat and each one is impressive. This is what it would be like if the Fierce Deity mask was an item in Super Smash. Bros. Ultimate, changing up each character’s appearance like a souped-up Tanooki leaf. If only! Be sure…
