With the release of the Resident Evil 4 remake, I couldn’t help but wonder what a Zelda game might be like if it was a gritty-but-goofy survival horror game. Nintendo is very unlikely to make such a game, but with Breath of the Wild being open-world and the Hyrule Warriors games bringing the franchise into the hack-and-slash genre, whose to say whether a survival horror spinoff might be in our future.  It should be stated right up front that I…

When Breath of the Wild came out, I raced through the main quest. When I replayed it last year I took my sweet time exploring, talking to NPCs, finding Koroks, and collecting every last piece of apparel available to Link. The stop-and-smell-the-roses approach was much more satisfying, but is it always the way to go? I also sped through Skyward Sword and had a marvelous time. What helped there was that it was a pretty long game to begin with,…

Pre-order bonuses for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have been rolling out worldwide as fans gear up for the game’s May 12th release. For players in Italy, pre-ordering a bundle through Amazon that includes two copies of the game will also include two packs of Tears of the Kingdom decals. The stickers depict Link, Zelda, the corrupted Master Sword, the game’s logo, the Hylian crest, and an emblem resembling Link’s glowing hand. The bundle costs €124.99. The stickers…

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will not be shown at PAX East 2023, a spokesperson for Nintendo told the Boston Herald. PAX East will run from March 23rd to March 27th this year in Boston, Massachusetts with Nintendo in attendance. While the video game trade event is happening well before Tears of the Kingdom’s slated release date of May 12th, Breath of the Wild famously took over Nintendo’s E3 show floor almost nine months before its release,…

A lot of things jumped out at me from the latest The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom trailer, but what has stuck with me the most are the “crop circles” on the terrain at the 1:25 mark, reminiscent of the Nazca lines, which must be viewed from the air. There is precedent for the appearance of aliens in Zelda games– “Them” in Majora’s Mask, of course, and possibly even the Stone Taluses and Pebblits from Breath of the…

With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom taking place significantly on the same map as Breath of the Wild, things might get stale if the hide-and-find items continue to be Korok seeds. Theoretically, the Koroks could all find brand-new hiding spots and start their sick feces sharing game all over again, but with Zelda’s modus operandi lately being innovation there is a real chance those little stinkers will be swapped out for a new set of discoverables.  With…

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is right around the corner. Many fans will be pre-ordering the game to have it as soon as possible, and Walmart stores in Canada are sweetening the deal. Those who pre-order (and ultimately purchase the game) through Walmart will receive a free luggage tag featuring the Tears of the Kingdom logo embossed on one side. This offer is valid until May 11th and is available while supplies last. The…

There is something so calming about watching skilled crafters work with clay, and this video of Chicago-based clay artist Adam Blythe of Thrdfloor ceramics making a Link’s Awakening 2019 inspired clay pot is no exception. If you need an eight-minute break from the world or a new DIY project to work on in your very own clay-making studio, check out Blythe’s tranquil step-by-step guide. Blythe started by kneading and prepping the clay. Then he wet and “threw” the clay on…

The Zelda series is full of colorful characters from all walks of life. Some of these strong personalities could benefit from a bit of professional help letting go of their hangups or fitting more comfortably into social circles. Ironically, the Zelda characters who need therapy the most are those who might be most resistant to it: Ganondorf, Zant, and Vaati to name a few of the biggest contenders. But there many other strange characters who might not be too keen…
