The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will not be shown at PAX East 2023, a spokesperson for Nintendo told the Boston Herald. PAX East will run from March 23rd to March 27th this year in Boston, Massachusetts with Nintendo in attendance. While the video game trade event is happening well before Tears of the Kingdom’s slated release date of May 12th, Breath of the Wild famously took over Nintendo’s E3 show floor almost nine months before its release, so fans may be disappointed that its sequel will not be given a similar treatment in Boston.

Nintendo has not revealed what games it will be showing at the event, but stated it will be hosting competitive play. Since PAX East is taking place close to the April 5th release of Illumination’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it is possible the competitive play will focus on Mario-related games like Super Smash Bros. or Mario Kart. Also attending the trade show this year is The Pokemon Company, Square Enix, Devolver Digital, Yacht Club, THQ Nordic, and Inti Creates, among others.

For anyone interested in attending PAX East at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, four-day tickets are still available for $247 USD, as well as one-day passes for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at $67 USD per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at https://east.paxsite.com/.
