Aonuma Won’t Confirm Whether Or Not Zelda Will Be Playable In Sequel to Breath of the Wild

Since the launch of the teaser trailer for Breath of the Wild‘s upcoming sequel, many have speculated that Zelda herself may be playable this time around. However well grounded the theories on the matter may be, it remains pure speculation for the time being.
In an interview with Kotaku, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma was quick to dodge questions about Zelda being playable. When the interviewer shot reasons why fans think she may be playable, Aonuma had only one thing to say:
“I see. (laughs) But I can’t tell you.”
Interestingly enough, Kotaku tried to trick Aonuma into saying the number of playable characters in the game, though was met only with an answer similar to the question on Zelda being playable.
“I can’t say.”
Despite Aonuma’s coy and clever approach to these questions, it is difficult to say the true reason he is withholding, as he previously remained silent on the topic of Link’s gender in Breath of the Wild to keep speculation going.
What are your thoughts? Is Aonuma hiding something big from us, or is he giving us another classic set up? Let us know in the comments below.
