There’s good news for fans of the Zelda-like action adventure title TUNIC, as the game prepares to go physical with a new Deluxe Edition and an abundance of extra goodies to boot.

First released as a digital title on March 16th, 2022 for Steam and Xbox systems, TUNIC later made its way to the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation store in September 2022. Now, physical editions of the game are coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 systems. These releases come in the form of a Deluxe Edition bundled with the following:

  • Full-length staple-bound manual with the full contents of the in-game manual (full of spoilers!)
  • Mini-manual with basic instructions (and no spoilers)
  • Foldout map of some areas and dungeons
  • Sticker sheets with iconography from the game
  • Digital download code for a copy of the complete soundtrack by Lifeformed and Janice Kwan

Copies of this edition will only run players $45 USD, a mere $15 USD more than the digital version’s MSRP.

Releasing separately for just $19.99 USD is a hardcover version of TUNIC‘s in-game manual, which bears a striking similarity to the manual for the original Zelda. Additionally, a Huggable Fox Plush, based on the game’s protagonist, is planned for a restock in the near future; that will run for $32 USD. Fangamer, the retailer for each of these items, also has a shirt inspired by the game, available in unisex or women’s fitting, for $32 USD.

Unfortunately, it looks like fans eager to get their hands on the Deluxe Edition or the hardcover manual will have to wait a while, as shipping for these items is not expected to begin until July 28th, 2023.

As of yet, there remains to be any word of a Standard Edition physical release.

Those interested in buying the digital edition of TUNIC can find the platform of their choice here.

Much like the Zelda games of old, TUNIC is a top-down, exploration-based dungeon crawler. In the vein of the original The Legend of Zelda, players are cast into an unfamiliar world and are encouraged to explore to their hearts’ content as an adorable Fox with a catalog of abilities and weapons at their disposal. You can read Zelda Dungeon’s review of TUNIC right here.

My favorite aspect of all this is how much the map looks like that from the original Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Truly, TUNIC is a love letter to The Legend of Zelda. I’ve slept on the game thus far, but this Deluxe Edition might just be the final nail in the coffin that is me buying this game.
