SuniWith the introduction of Hyrule Warriors, more and more people are wondering what will come of the Zelda franchise being handled by another video game developer besides Nintendo. Hyrule Warriors‘ new developer, Tecmo Koei, shows great promise, especially since Eiji Aonuma is still overseeing it, but this new sort of collaboration has opened up many new possibilities in the minds of the fans. Perhaps production of spinoff or crossover Zelda games could continue with other studios and developers? Author L.S. Carol of the website HiResGamer compiled a list detailing other top developers that could try out the Zelda franchise. Hit the jump for more information.

Carol’s first suggestion is Capcom. Since Capcom has produced three Game Boy Zelda titles and has collaborated with Nintendo for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, the companies working together is not far-fetched. While other developers named are less likely, some would be exceptionally exciting if announced. Some others listed are Naughty Dog (Uncharted, The Last of Us, and Ratchet & Clank), Ubisoft (Assassin Creed), and Square Enix (Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider). My personal favorite contender is Bethesda, who created Skyrim. Considering their focus on overworld play, I think they would make a fantastic Hyrule overworld, but I am a sucker for more mature and expansive Zelda titles.
