An antagonist’s redemption usually starts with a change of heart. Maybe an even worse person challenges them, maybe their morals are broken, or maybe they start to see things a different way. When it comes to the main antagonist of the Zelda series Ganon, it’s very rare (and I do mean VERY) for him to show any signs of compassion. Though there was that one time where he did show some form of grace.

This is where SwankyBox’s theory begins as he looks into what could possibly happen if Ganondorf in the Breath of the Wild sequel has a change of heart. Analyzing the final boss fight in The Wind Waker makes Swanky notice subtle moments of grace from the antagonist, such as the way the dark king talks about his land, how he hesitates when the King Daphnes touches the Triforce first, and how he shows mercy when not ending Link and Princess Zelda right off the bat. Looking back at it, Swanky wonders if the one sleeping in the depths in Breath of the Wild 2 will be more like the Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time, or more like the one from The Wind Waker.

What do you think of this question? Will Ganondorf have any kind of compassion in the Breath of the Wild sequel? Let us know in the comments below.
