Tears of the Kingdom Tops Game Informer’s Games of the Year List

What a fantastic year it has been for video games! Different outlets have reported lists labeling the best and brightest games of 2023, and now Game Informer has joined the fray with their Top 10 Games of 2023.
I’ll spare everyone the details of going through all ten games one by one, but powerhouse titles like the remake of Resident Evil 4, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3 make the list. But one game towers above them all, and that is none other than The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo has had such a great year for games, and it’s awesome to see Tears of the Kingdom honored as Number One on another gaming list.
Game Informer praises Tears of the Kingdom for its new abilities that you can use in the game, especially Ultrahand for making them feel “smart and creative” and for inspiring “thousands to become virtual engineers with incredible creations of their own.” Nintendo did something truly special and surprised many Zelda fans, myself included, with the number of creative capabilities that one can take in trying to complete a Shrine, dungeon, or puzzle. There really was no wrong way to use Ultrahand, and it was fun to see how Nintendo urged players to be creative and find new solutions to big problems.
Along with Ultrahand and the other abilities, the gaming news outlet praises the story and conclusion, as it follows up one of Nintendo’s best games ever in Breath of the Wild. I think it can be agreed upon that the long wait and secrecy surrounding Tears of the Kingdom was well worth it in the end.
