YouTube user DJ Cutman has released another one of his video

game music remixes, this time focusing on Zelda’s Theme from A Link Between Worlds. He takes an

already brilliant little tune and turns it into a lively house song, complete with

footage of his remixing process in the video. I have an appreciation for how he manages to maintain the emotional impact of the song while throwing it into a completely different genre altogether. That can be really hard to do well, and in my opinion he did a great job with it. This song, as well as DJ Cutman’s

many other remixes, are well worth a listen or two.

Oath to Order remix

November 16 2013 by Maanav Goyal

Ben Briggs, a music artist, has recently uploaded a remix of Oath to Order from Majora’s Mask, on SoundCloud. He has designed the song to have a “Ben Drowned” tone to it, creating a eerie yet lively remix of the already very eerie song. The song is currently not out for download, but you can still listen it here, and on SoundCloud. So go ahead and hit the jump to hear the song for yourself!

This week on Windmill Hut we have a fantastic remix of Saria’s Song/Lost Woods Theme. Now, this remix isn’t quite as intense as some of the Overclocked Remix pieces are, but the smoothness and comforting mood make for a wonderful remix of an under-appreciated tune. In addition to reserving the original, simple tune from Ocarina of Time, this remix plays with the ocarina sound, and takes Saria’s Song in places she only wishes could have been incorporated into the game. Hit the…

I hope by now all of you have heard of the great conglomeration of people called Overclocked Remix, and have heard at least a few of the Zelda related music that originates there. Overclocked Remix is exactly what it sounds like, music remixes that are superb, and far surpass most other remixes that are out there. Luckily the popularity of the Zelda series has made Zelda remixes commonplace, but unfortunately that also means we can’t feature everything here in one…

To coincide with Jordan’s Flute Boy’s Meadow this week, we have for you on Windmill Hut not one, not two, but four different versions of Tal Tal Heights. This popular tune from the end of Link’s Awakening has been covered in varying ways to different effects, but none seem to diverge too far from the intentions of the original theme- to make the player feel excited and accomplished at the same time. Hit the jump to listen!

This week on Windmill Hut I’m going to share some of my absolute favorite Zelda fan music: Time’s End – Majora’s Mask Remixed. This album, by Overclocked Remix contributor Theophany, was released on December 21, 2012 in “celebration” of the supposed end of the world. Luckily, however, the end of the world never came, and six months later we can still enjoy this fantastic album. Hit the jump for a listen!

On a recent Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, a guest music artist performed a very special Legend of Zelda remix. After Zedd and Foxes performed “Clarity”, Zedd went to his DJ booth to present a full tribute to the original NES title, with an electronic remix of the main theme and with a spectacular visual show that highlights the original 8 bit sprites. Hit the jump to watch it performed!

In celebration of the anticipated Wind Waker HD release later this year, album director Tom Swift has put together an entirely new take of a Wind Waker  remix tribute titled, “On the Breath of Fire”. Featuring  a variety of musical artists as well as some remarkably remixed songs and some nifty looking album art, the album certainly sounds promising in its fresh sense of being remixed while maintaining the classic tunes from the game itself. Having heard a variety Zelda…

In one of the clearest demo videos we’ve seen today, German Nintendo fansite NiNTENDOMiNATiON has brought us an excellent look at the exclusive Zelda 3DS demo with a full thirteen minutes of footage. Not only does this new video show us a full dungeon’s worth of gameplay, but it also has a direct audio feed so we get to hear the music and other game sounds perfectly. The results sound beautiful. Jump inside to see the video!

Everybody loves some Zelda music from time to time… What am I talking about? Everybody loves Zelda music all the time! And if you include yourself in the word “everybody,” you may like a new Zelda album by remixer Zas, entitled, “Seven Years.”

Seven Years is based on the Nintendo 64 classic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. While many remix albums are simply made for good music, many others have a central theme or inspiration. Seven Years takes this inspiration from the themes of childhood in Ocarina of Time. Instead of pertaining to a particular genre, Seven Years focuses on this childlike nature and infusing classic tunes with a new interpretation we may have never thought of before. At times, these new styles work better than others, but the whole album thus far is still great fun nonetheless. Rather than having an “epic” feeling like many Zelda remixes, Seven Years instead aims for an air of youth, “as if a kid who knew a lot about music decided to make this.

To get a better understanding of the project’s goal, you should most certainly give it a listen—but be warned, the project is actually incomplete! Yes, sadly the whole of Seven Years has not yet been released, but you can keep track of Zas’ progress no less and follow along with his updates.
