By now it’s no secret that the Zelda series is significantly more popular in the United States than it is in Japan. This wasn’t always the case, but really ever since Ocarina of Time hit in 1998 each game has slowly but surely sold more and more in our area than in its own motherland. Nintendo has tried various methods to invigorate sales in Japan for the series, but none of them have seemingly pulled it off. In Japan, we must note that handheld gaming is significantly more popular than console gaming, so when we start looking at sales numbers it is really Nintendo’s handheld line that tells the tale.

Head inside for a breakdown.

Welcome to the very last Christmas editorial! Well for this year at least. So, last week I kept you all in suspense about what this week’s editorial is going to be about, so if you haven’t already read the title, we’ll be sharing some Christmas memories involving Zelda, from both me, and the rest of the staff! Hit the jump to read more!

Christmas time has officially started! For me at least. To me, Christmas time starts as soon as Thanksgiving is over. So to kick off Christmas time at Zelda Dungeon, I’m gonna tell you my top five snow areas in Zelda! Hit the jump to read more!

Are new items better, or returning items? This question has gone through the head of many-a Zelda fan, and rarely has a clear answer been found. To find a clear answer, there are two assumptions that we have to make: firstly, that the term items refers only to items that are used to progress through a certain dungeon and gain access to other areas in the overworld; and secondly, that returning items can be split into two subcategories: staples and…

So, a lot of people have bought and received the Zelda Prima Guides Boxed Set.  As we all know, the boxed set is a limited edition and each one is numbered. I think it would be fun trying to gather ALL of the people who bought one to share their Certificate of Authenticity number. So in order for this to work, we will need everyone’s help in making the ultimate list! I’ll start with mine. As more people come forward,…

Well, today is the day. I just received my Legend of Zelda Boxed Set Prima Guides. It’s a rather large box weighing in at just under 23 pounds. Upon opening the box inside is another box. This is the box we really want! It is desigend to look similar to the many chests found throughout the Legend of Zelda series. Included in the boxed set are six hardcover books, each one pertaining to a specific game. They are: Skyward Sword, Ocarina…

A Link Between Worlds is right around the corner and it looks like people are pretty excited about it overall; most of the skepticism that cropped up when the game was announced seems to have fizzled in the wake of more details about the game, and for the most part it seems like the majority of Zelda fans are excited to play it. But no one ever really seems to bring up — at least explicitly — the thing that…

Many fans have been waiting for Prima’s Zelda guide box set since the very first reveal of it. The set includes six collector’s edition guides for the six most recently released games, excluding A Link Between Worlds. Also included is a laser etched bookmark, an individually numbered certificate of authenticity, and a treasure chest case to top it all off. We are getting very close to the release of the set. That being said, more photos have been revealed. Check…

Looking forward to Prima’s upcoming box set for their special edition Zelda guides? Well, someone managed to snap a few photos of the product out in the open and in a display case, and it looks gorgeous to say the least. The boxed set contains six hardcover guidebooks for six separate Zelda titles, none of which are A Link Between Worlds, sadly.

The boxed set is a one time deal, and it will only receive a single print run, so get your pre-orders in while you can! Unless you’re rich, it’ll be a pretty pricey buy (running for $108 on Amazon), considering it comes out four days after A Link Between Worlds is released, especially with its 3DS XL bundle, which runs at $220.

Wondering which you should buy? If it’s any consolation, the boxed set comes with a signature and special message from Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma himself! It’s a difficult decision, so consult your wallet and buy!

Phantom Hourglass is not a well-loved game in the Zelda series, but it’s one I surprisingly found myself quite fond of. It has plenty of shortcomings alongside its good moments, but one part of the game that I was pretty fond of was the final battle. I feel it’s worth addressing because in a big way I feel these moments are highly overlooked by those who’ve played the game, and written off because of their dislike of the game in…
