Greetings, friends! The time for the next instalment of Fan Art Showdown has officially arrived…
Hey everyone, it’s time for another round of Fan Art Showdown! As per usual, we feature two outstanding pieces of fan art, illustrated by fellow members of the Zelda fanbase, but only one gets to taste victory…
So it begins, the last of our semifinal matchups. The last semifinal ended with Midna topping Epona, and this time around we have two companions from the same game vying for a spot in the finals. Medli takes on The King of the Red Lions, in what could be a matchup for the ages. This is Medli’s second time facing a fellow opponent from The Wind Waker. Can she win again, or will King of the Red Lions sail on to the finals? Head inside to vote!
Two female companions face off as Medli from The Wind Waker takes on Zelda from Spirit Tracks. Zelda’s spirit went on to help Link in many situations, while Medli offered some excellent advice and great plot points throughout one of The Wind Waker‘s fantastic dungeons. Who will take the final spot in the semifinals? Head inside to vote!
Asking me to choose between Medli and Makar is like asking me to pull two hairs out of my head and asking me to choose my favorite strand. That didn’t stop the two from being paired up in our last matchup in round one of ZVS. These two characters should be fresh in our mind, coming off the recent release of The Wind Waker HD. Head inside to vote now!
Hello everyone! This is Zelda Artist Exposition, an editorial series where I feature exceptional artists. In case you have not read these before, although I have done many of them, suggestions for artists are always welcome. The only criteria is that they need to have at least three Zelda-related pieces, and you need to think they are a fantastic artist. The goal of these posts is to spread the joy of art wherever possible and to expose artists to a…
Hello all and here again is another edition of “Zelda Artist Exposition”. I have some good news before we jump in (the news is pretty neutral actually, just depends on how you view it). I will now be writing these biweekly for Saturdays from now on. Firstly, this is good because I am one for order, reason, scheduling, and whatnot, and secondly, since these will be coming out more frequently, my list of artists to write about will be shrinking…
I already wrote in my last Favorite Zelda Moments editorial — where I discussed the flooded Hyrule — about how I feel The Wind Waker managed better epic presentation and cooler storytelling than most other Zelda games, including Twilight Princess, which is usually the game you’d see praised for cinematic presentation. This week I’d like to discuss a few more related moments: The meetings with the deceased Sages of Hyrule. Now, The Wind Waker is usually considered a pretty cartoony…
Sometimes, Zelda songs are remembered for how powerful their melodies can be. Other times, for their catchiness and ability to stick in one’s head for a while. Some songs are repeated throughout their games often enough to gain a certain effect, others play only once or twice but are remembered all the same. Some songs in the Zelda series just go unnoticed, though. Despite being beautiful melodies, some tunes manage to slip past the player due to their limited presence…
The Earth Temple is my favorite dungeon in The Wind Waker, and has been for a long time. Because the things it succeeds at are less nuanced than those of Dragon Roost Cavern, it’s the only dungeon in The Wind Waker that I loved outright, whereas it was only upon further analysis that I came to understand why I appreciated Dragon Roost Cavern. That lack of nuance combined with the fact that the Earth Temple’s problems are few — regardless…
