This week my Zelda collection takes us to the various Legend of Zelda animated series DVD’s. The animated series originally aired in the Fall of 1989 as part of the Super Mario Super Show. A new episode aired each Friday and the show lasted for 13 episodes before it got cancelled. The show could be described as being quite corny as the plot of each episode seemed very repetitive and was filled with awful voice acting. The dialogue was terrible…

With Ocarina of Time 3D now available in Japan, Europe, and North America, strategy guides are quick to follow. In the United States, Prima Games is now the only strategy guide publisher that makes Zelda guides. Ever since Phantom Hourglass came out in 2007, Nintendo stopped making their own versions of strategy guides and instead, partnered with Prima Games in making them the official guide producer for all Nintendo games. One of the bonuses in purchasing this guide is that…

This time around we are looking at two strategy guides for the original Legend of Zelda. What’s strange is that both of these guides were made by the same company. Why would a company want to make two guides for the same game? After diving in further, we can see that one of the guides is sort of a ‘preview’ guide, only covering the first 3 dungeons of the game. The second guide is a bit more elaborate in which…

Today we have part 10 of Mas’ Zelda Collection and this time around we are looking at the original Legend of Zelda released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game released in July of 1987, a full 17 months after its initial release on the Famicom Disk System in Japan. The box has had several different versions to it, including the Classic Series re-release here in the United States. The particular box and game shown in this video are from…

Today we have Part 9 of Mas’ Zelda Collection and this time around we are looking at Legend of Zelda Baseball Caps from the late 80’s. These caps come in four different colors that I know of and each of them has the exact same logo. It has the official Nintendo logo, the game logo from the Legend of Zelda, as well as a piece of official artwork of Link with his sword. Each of the caps have a copyright…

Today we have Part 8 of Mas’ Zelda Collection and this time around we are looking at Kirby-Link Plush Doll. It is a Kirby plush, but he is wielding a sword and wearing Link’s cap. The plush is quite common and can be purchased on various internet auction sites for a relatively cheap price. It was originally made by Taito but years ago it was sold in many US retailers including Gamestop and Walmart. I’ve got a number of Zelda…

Part 7 of the Mas’ Zelda Collection series is now online and this time we are looking at Zelda II: The Adventure of Link for the Famicom Disk System. This game released on January 14th, 1987 in Japan, while the NES version released nearly two years later in September of 1988. Unlike its Legend of Zelda counterpart, The Adventure of Link did experience some notable changes in its Famicom to NES transition. There were minor graphical and sound effects tweaks,…

Part 6 of Mas’ Zelda Collection is now online and this one covers a somewhat common Legend of Zelda T-Shirt. The shirt shows Link holding up the completed Triforce piece that he collected during his quest in the original Legend of Zelda. It is the final boss battle room where the background is shaped like a Skull, and Link will take on Ganon. I believe the shirt was available at Hot Topic T-shirt stores for a period of time, but…

Part 5 of Mas’ Zelda Collection is now online and this one covers a strategy guide for the original Legend of Zelda by Million Print Publications. This strategy guide was released back in 1986 and it’s one of best guides for the original Legend of Zelda. It has a great overworld guide, as well as a nice room-by-room strategy for the dungeons. In fact, this guide was one of the primary inspirations for our current Legend of Zelda Walkthrough. It…

Part 4 of Mas’ Zelda Collection is now online and this one covers the Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages books released by Scholastic and authored by Craig Wessel. These are book renditions of the storylines from the games. However, because they are very short (96 and 61 pages), many of the details from the game are left out. There isn’t much of anything new in terms of storyline, and overall it really is just a quick summary of…
