Part 7 of the Mas’ Zelda Collection series is now online and this time we are looking at Zelda II: The Adventure of Link for the Famicom Disk System. This game released on January 14th, 1987 in Japan, while the NES version released nearly two years later in September of 1988. Unlike its Legend of Zelda counterpart, The Adventure of Link did experience some notable changes in its Famicom to NES transition. There were minor graphical and sound effects tweaks, but more importantly the experience system was quite different, and there was even new content in the NES version.

The disk came with an elaborate booklet that had descriptions and artwork for all the items, enemies, several scenes with Link, and an elaborate back story. Despite its age, this item can still be found on ebay for a somewhat reasonable price of $25-$30. You will likely not find this item anywhere in stores, outside an antique video game store, but there are almost always listings on ebay.

Rarity: Common – Uncommon
Price: $25 – $30

You can see some of the artwork from the game over at the Adventure of Link Image Gallery, including scans of the NES and Famicom game manuals. A few months back I uploaded high quality versions of the some of the Adventure of Link Scene Artwork.

In January of this year I made a collection video of the original Legend of Zelda for the Famicom Disk System and you can watch that video over at YouTube. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get all the latest videos from Zelda Dungeon.
