Next week, Japan will showcase their annual gaming convention, the Tokyo Game Show. Although Nintendo generally passes on the  event, this year we will be seeing a little Zelda love being displayed. As we reported at the beginning of this month, Koei Tecmo as the developer will be featuring Hyrule Warriors Legends at their booth. During the convention attendees will be able to get their hands on a playable demo of the game and Koei Tecmo had also previously teased…

Tokyo Game Show, an annual gaming convention held every year in Japan is just a few weeks away. It has been a while since any news on Hyrule Warriors has come up. It seems, at least for now, that Nintendo is not making it a point of further development. Still, the game seems to be continuing to impact Koei Tecmo’s sales, as their yearly financial report, detailing from April 2014 to March 2015, was just released, and Hyrule Warriors seems to top a lot of their other material. Also, a recent issue of the Japanese Famitsu magazine had…

Zelda‘s combat system has seen a number of changes throughout the series’ history. From simplistic top-down combat in The Legend of Zelda, to side-scrolling action RPG fare in Adventure of Link, to Z-targeting in Ocarina of Time and the advancements made to that system in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Heck, we’ve even had stylus controls for combat in the DS titles, and motion controlled combat in Skyward Sword with the use of the Wii Motion Plus…

Hyrule Warriors has been steadily churning out DLC packs since the game released. These packs include a number of different features, such as new Adventure Mode maps, new game modes, and new costumes. In fact, every single DLC pack has had some form of new costumes added to the game. Some of these costumes are simple color swaps, while others are more elaborate (such as Lana’s Skull Kid costume)…

Update: Now Live!

Koei Tecmo has announced on the official Hyrule Warriors website that a new DLC pack, the Boss pack, will be coming to the game on March 12th, a little over three weeks from now. This new DLC pack will include two brand-new games modes, known as “Boss Challenge” and “Ganon’s Fury”, and will unlock new costumes for various characters. The Boss Pack is set at a price point of $2.99, much lower than the other Hyrule Warriors DLC packs, which have been sold at $7.99 a piece.

This is the fourth DLC pack to come to the game since its release last year, after…

One of the explicit goals of Hyrule Warriors was to expose those from both sides of the Zelda x Dynasty Warriors fanbase to a game series they may have not experienced.  Judging by the number of Zelda fans who experienced and enjoyed the title, it seems safe to say that this did successfully get them to try out the Dynasty Warriors franchise.  While we don’t have specific numbers, the benefits Koei Tecmo enjoyed seem to be rather pronounced, and they may help revitalize their franchise.  In an interview with UK publication MCV…
