We are all familiar with the notion of hammerspace, even if we haven’t heard the term before. It’s that mystical, never-mentioned area from which our favorite video game characters withdraw their myriad weapons and items. The ridiculousness of hammerspace is normally accepted with a shrug, but does Zelda need a believable explanation for this phenomenon? Read on and let us know in the comments.

Do you remember your first time smacking a Cucco? I remember mine. It was a magical moment in Ocarina of Time that made me fear for my life. Thanks to Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS, you will soon be able to share that terror with your best friends and bitter rivals.

That’s right, the Cucco will be an item in the new Super Smash Bros. that summons its furious kin to lay a beat down whoever is unlucky enough to be near the guy who got hit with it. It looks like the item will act similarly to a smaller version of Pit’s final smash in Brawl. It does not appear that holding the item allows the bearer to glide, but gliding or slow-falling could still be added in the final version. Carefully kept separate from the non-blue, non-glowing arrows in his quiver, this shiny new plot twist is currently keeping us guessing as to its significance. While it’ll probably be a while until we get a definite answer on the bow and arrow of The Legend of Zelda‘s future, Arcade Arms’s new video should remind you why Link’s bow has always been an amazing weapon.

Speaking of awesome items from the Zelda games, because that’s definitely what I was talking about, you might want to look into the Tornado Rod from the upcoming installment, A Link Between Worlds. It’s very similar to the Whirlwind from Spirit Tracks, but has some new features.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, the latest entry in our favorite game series, is coming out in just under a month, and still many mysteries surround it. One aspect of A Link Between Worlds that we still don’t know everything about is the items that Link will be able to use in the game. Earlier, however, screeshots revealed one such mystery item for the world to see.

File properties revealed a “Sand Rod” pictured in this article which came from the European Press assets. Our friend Austin of Link’s Hideaway also discovered other items as well including the Sword, Shield, Fire, and Ice Rods. Nobody knows right now what the Sand Rod does, but one possible assumption is that it might be related to the Sand Wand in Spirit Tracks.

That title may take a bit of deciphering to grasp, but essentially Eiji Aonuma pointed out in a Q and A today that it doesn’t really matter what order you do the dungeons in when it comes to difficulty. Traditionally, when dungeons can be done in any order, there is generally an ideal order to do them in to make the game easier, but as he explains that isn’t the case in A Link Between Worlds:

In terms of the difficulty level, each dungeon features new ideas involving the item you need to use there, so there isn’t some kind of process or order you can follow to make it easier. However, if you are using a particular item more than normal you will become more used to it so you may find it easier to complete the corresponding dungeon in that case. However this is a reflection of your own skills increasing so I think the game would be most fun if you try out lots of different approaches. – Eiji Aonuma

I am glad he is taking this approach to the game. This is one idea I feel will work well in
