Theory: The Golden Goddesses

September 20 2015 by Jon Lett

How many fans have asked time and time again about the Goddesses of Hyrule, Din, Nayru, and Farore? Iterations of the mighty beings from the heavens seem to have been dropped from the series, to an extent, by Nintendo. They are only mentioned in a few games, and we know very little about them. YouTuber RMFH, with help from GameOver Jesse, has delved into the Goddesses’ lore, and theorized about their various appearances in the series. Check out the video…

The much talked about and debated Zelda Timeline continues to be a major topic among Zelda fans. YouTube member Luka has come to help with a new video series covering the Zelda Timeline. This episode titled The Creation of the World is the first of the series and goes over the story of the three goddesses creating the land of Hyrule. The video includes the text from A Link to the Past and the sequence from Ocarina of Time together….

For over 25 years, the Zelda series has built a centuries-old legend around the mighty embodiment of the three golden goddesses’ power: the Triforce. And it has worked wonderfully well. Ocarina of Time, after so long, gave the golden triangles a back-story, and the most recent game, A Link Between Worlds, has even given it an alternate universe counterpart. But, could we have some other plot device or story line relating to the gods, without using the Triforce? It may…

According to my 10th grade English teacher (and I dare not doubt her), the Holy Bible is the most commonly alluded to piece of literature in the world, and the Zelda series has its fair share of nods to the Word of the Lord. It is no secret that the team behind making the Zelda games at Nintendo uses various religious themes and symbolism as elements that add to the lore of the Zelda Universe. A continuing motif of the…

This past Friday, I was one of the lucky New Yorkers to attend The Symphony of the Goddesses: Second Quest! As an avid listener of Zelda music, and an attendee of the “First Quest,” I was elated to experience fully orchestrated performances of brand new medleys, as well as many favorites of last year’s performance. And now you can ask experience some of it too, with footage of the concert’s best moments now available on YouTube! Click the jump for…

There has been a large number of recurring objects, themes, and characters in the Legend of Zelda series. More often than nearly any other number or symbol, the number three appears to have the most significance in the Zelda series, and as I will discuss later, other places as well. It is such an important attribute that many things involving it, great and small, are very noticeable, and its symbolism can be seen in both the series’ gameplay and its…

Welcome to today’s Fanart Spotlight. I usually try to find art by artists who have not been featured before so that as many different art styles and interpretations as possible can be found here on the front page. However, Karlen Tam, whom Knowlee wrote about just last month, has made another amazing contribution to the Zelda community worthy of a Fanart Spotlight, with this digital art piece appropriately named Golden Goddesses. This picture must be seen at full size for…

The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses has spread world wide joy to all who were lucky enough to witness it. Going to cities all over the world, Zelda fans rejoiced as they got to enjoy the music that they have known to love, redone in a brand new ochestral syle. Nintendo, noticing all the excitment from all the concerts, desided to do a small show at the Nintendo World store in New York city. This video shows the…

Yes, The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses Tour that has been hitting cities around North America since April 7th is going to be even better. The great news is that this already-spectacular show became even better now with the addition of a Majora’s Mask movement during the concert in the Orpheum Theater in Pheonix, Arizona. Symphony of the Goddesses normally includes four-movement symphonies that tell the stories of Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, the Wind Waker and A…
