Back in September, Super Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai announced that more DLC fighters — beyond the five that were initially planned — were officially in development for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Well, after this morning’s Smash Bros. presentation, we now know how many new fighters we can expect to join the fray in the near future. Sakurai announced today that six new Challenger Packs are in development and will be bundled together as part of Fighters Pass Vol 2.

Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will feature six new Challenger Packs and thus six new playable fighters, each to be released some time down the road. The bundle will be available for pre-purchase on January 28th, 2020; the price has not yet been announced. Nintendo assures that all six Challenger Packs included in Fighters Pass Vol. 2 will be released by December 31, 2021. Players who purchase Fighters Pass Vol. 2 will also receive a special Mii Fighter costume inspired by Breath of the Wild: The Ancient Soldier gear.

With Fire Emblem‘s Byleth announced as the last fighter of Fighters Pass Vol. 1, who would you like to see join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s roster with Fighters Pass Vol. 2? Do you think we’ll see any new Zelda characters join Smash? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
