Breath of the Wild is a game that boasted freedom in more ways than one, allowing players to navigate an open world, solve puzzles, and learn about Hyrule in their own unique way. The same was true of cooking. Players could experiment with various ingredients they had collected, and learn what would and wouldn’t result in dubious food.

The Legend’s Cookbook has celebrated this culinary aspect of the Zelda franchise since their first release in January of 2020. A winning team of chefs, artists, writers, photographers and, of course, fans of the Zelda series put together a compilation of real-world recipes that mimic the dishes in Breath of the Wild. Lead chef Peter J. Abreu talks of “aiming for the highest caliber of flavor while adhering to the themes of nature, simplicity and the wild” on the history section of their Kickstarter page.

As of April of this year, you can pre-order the second edition of the cookbook, complete with revised recipes of the first book while simultaneously adding bonus recipes, metric conversions, a gold foil cover, and recipes from side projects Curse Of The SkullSpatula and Hero Of The Ladle.

The second edition can be pre-ordered for $55 USD in paperback and $65 USD in hardcover. The Legend’s Cookbook+ is a printed collection of recipes that is estimated to deliver to a kitchen near you from late 2023 to early 2024.
