Shacknews recently conducted an interview with Nintendo of America’s senior director of corporate communications Charlie Scibetta. In the interview he explains how the hardware is created to fully compliment the software Nintendo creates, and says that with tools like the GamePad designers can create the experiences they want the way they were meant to be played, he cited The Wind Waker HD as one of these titles.

To see what he had to say and his full comments hit the jump!

“Nintendo systems come to life the best when the hardware and software work in perfect harmony. That’s why we’re still in the hardware business, because we think our hardware is the best way to bring software to life. […] I think that one game that […] does a lot of interesting things with the capabilities of Wii U is The Wind Waker HD. You can use the GamePad to take photographs, to write messages, and you can use Miiverse which is our online service, and you can actually put those screenshots in a Tingle bottle and send them out.”

With all this talk recently about how Nintendo should break off from hardware creation it is reassuring to see that they are invested in creating software that “compliments the hardware”, and while I’m not the biggest fan of the new features in The Wind Waker HD, they are somewhat cleverly thought up and implemented into the game.

But what do you think about this? Does The Wind Waker HD and its GamePad functionality show promise? Or the GamePad in general? Give you thoughts or opinions below!
