Nintendo of Japan recently announced the upcoming release of a hardback collector’s edition artbook chronicling the history of The Legend of Zelda. The book contains not only artwork from throughout the series, but contains a history of the series, character and costume design notes, production images including scrapped costume ideas, and concept art for Link and various items. Fans will get a chance to see some of the more wild designs that did and did not make it into some of the games as well as a few notes from the developers. Also included is a preview of new official Skyward Sword manga. The book will go on sale December 21 and have a price of ¥32,55 ($41). Unfortunately there is no word at this time if it will be released outside of Japan just yet. We have a few pages to preview so jump inside to check out the pictures for yourself.

I really want this, I love art books and extra fan stuff like this. Even more so when it is Zelda related. I hope they localize this book eventually, I think there are a lot of fans over here that would love to get their hands on this. Plus I would love to get a look at some of the comments they made on those production notes. Things that go over why they decided to go with this look over another, etc. I always find those things interesting.

So what do you think? Do you think we will be getting this North America? Are you going to buy the Japanese one anyway? Let us know in the comments below.
