Nintendo of Japan recently announced the upcoming release of a hardback collector’s edition artbook chronicling the history of The Legend of Zelda. The book contains not only artwork from throughout the series, but contains a history of the series, character and costume design notes, production images including scrapped costume ideas, and concept art for Link and various items. The folks over at Kotaku have recently written an article talking about an observation they made in Nintendo’s 25th Anniversary Website. Zelda games used to be a rare thing. This year the Zelda series has turned 25 years old, but if you split that right down the middle, the number of games is not evenly distributed at all.
