With the positive reception and impressive sales performance of Skyward Sword HD, Nintendo has an interest in keeping the game visible and extending the launch window for as long as possible. The new release will be making another special appearance during Tetris 99‘s 23rd Maximus Cup event, where players will be able to unlock a unique, in-game theme based on Skyward Sword HD.

For the unacquainted, Tetris 99 is a distinctive multiplayer take on the classic puzzler, incorporating battle royale elements popularized by titles like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). Competitive puzzle games tend to have mind-boggling complexity and depth, but in brief, clearing one’s own board of tetriminoes will send more to the opponents’ boards in an attempt to knock them out of the game. During a Maximus Cup event, which Tetris 99 hosts regularly, players earn “event points” commensurate with their rank achieved in each battle throughout the event. Players who earn 100 event points in the newest Maximus Cup will unlock a new Skyward Sword HD theme. It will come complete with new art, music, and tetrimino designs inspired by The Legend of Zelda.

The Maximus cup event will run from 12am PT, August 6th until 11:59pm PT, August 9th. Don’t worry if you’re unable to earn this theme during that timeframe, as these rewards often become available again at reduced point cost, and an April patch made it so players could trade in-game tickets for past event themes. Anyone who wants this Skyward Sword HD theme should eventually be able to earn it at their own pace.
