Last December, we put out a post encouraging our readers to vote on a meticulously detailed Hyrule Castle LEGO set that had been submitted to the LEGO Ideas program. Taking its inspiration from Ocarina of Time, the design was beautifully done and was ultimately able to accrue enough votes to be considered in this year’s official review. However, after many months, LEGO has officially rejected the Legend of Zelda design among various other submissions.

Out of 57 finalists, eight fan creations were given approval to be crafted into official LEGO sets. Among those approved during this review are a Jazz Quartet set and a model set inspired by the TV show The Office. Both designs are stunning and will make for absolutely incredible sets, but it is a bit sad to not see the Hyrule Castle replica among the winners.

It’s important to note that LEGO is currently working on a Mario set in collaboration with Nintendo, so it is possible that they are staying away from fan-made Nintendo designs. Hopefully in the future we will be able to see our Hero of Time in all of his LEGO glory, but until then, I’ll be grabbing the Office set.

What do you think of the winning designs? What would you like to see from a Zelda-inspired LEGO set in the future? Let us know in the comments below!
