The recent Nintendo Treehouse stream gave plenty of insight into the gameplay of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, shedding some light on new side activities and further incentives that are given when you spend time on side quests.

The cooking feature introduced in Breath of the Wild makes a comeback in Age of Calamity, providing you and your party buffs that can be utilized before and during battle. Characters now have favorite recipes, too, though there is no information yet on whether these favorite recipes will yield better buffs. These recipes, however, are not easily discovered as they were in Breath of the Wild. Participating in side quests can result in new craft-able recipes, as well as other benefits, like new weapon combos and bonus health.

These side quests are completed by fulfilling material requirements that you can collect along your journey. These side quests also have additional storylines incorporated into them, giving you a deeper look into some of your party members’ history.

Another fun feature presented in Age of Calamity is the ability to mix and match pieces of armor. Throughout the story, you will collect new pieces of armor that you can wear (or not wear) for the missions. There is no word yet on whether characters other than Link can participate in the armor-costume party, though I do think that armor upgrades may be available for all playable characters.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set to be released on November 20, 2020.
