Skyloft is one of the most calming environments in the Zelda series — save the Remlits after dark. Skyward Sword pairs the island with an equally soothing theme, and the sounds do an excellent job of translating the scenery’s pastels into a song, which is why it works so wonderfully on piano.

Meet Michael Tai, a talented pianist who made a lovely piano cover of Skyloft’s theme. It delivers the buoyant joy of the original track, evoking the nostalgia we all experienced when meeting our Loftwing for the first time. The bubbly percussion and tambourine are replaced with skillful ivory-tickling, and that all-too-recognizable accordion-based melody works exceptionally well on keys. It is a faithful recreation, with moments of quiet that lead into celebratory crescendos that feel like home.

For anyone who feels inspired by this artistry, Tai has a sheet music library for you to peruse. Other Zelda-inspired works of theirs include “Grandma’s Theme” from The Wind Waker, Astral Observatory” from Majora’s Mask, and a rendition of “Death Mountain” from A Link to the Past — among many, many others.

Tai covers tons of pop culture icons, from Naruto themes to Hans Zimmer bangers, too. Follow and support on YouTube, Spotify, and Soundcloud for music, and Patreon, Instagram, Facebook, and X for socials. Send some love their way, and share what you think of this gorgeous cover in the comments!
