Breath of the Wild introduced the Yiga Clan, a group who split off from the Sheikah Clan hundreds of years ago and are trying to resurrect Ganon. They hunt Princess Zelda in the past and Link in the present. They are masters of disguise, and the history behind why the clan split off is compelling. The Yiga Clan is a foil of the Sheikah Clan, who are incredibly loyal to Hyrule and the Royal Family. While the idea of introducing a clan that opposes the Sheikah is very cool on paper, I feel the execution left a lot to be desired.

Outside of the flashback of them pursuing Princess Zelda, the Yiga Clan is largely played for laughs. There’s a bizarre emphasis on the clansmen being obsessed with bananas, and their strange quirks don’t add anything to their philosophy. I’d love to see the Yiga Clan return in Tears of the Kingdom, but potentially in a conflict with the Sheikah Clan. With Calamity Ganon defeated and Hyrule returning to a place of prosperity, I think it’d be interesting to see how the Yiga Clan handles the fallout. It would be a really neat opportunity to explore the dynamics and opposition between the two clans and their ideologies in the sequel.

What do you think? Would you be on board with a conflict between the Sheikah and Yiga Clans? Let us know in the comments!
