Believe it or not, but The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds turns ten today. Feel old yet? I know I do.

The year A Link Between Worlds came out is the year I took my first steps into Hyrule, as I played through countless Zelda games from February all the way through December. By the time it came out, I’d gone from Zelda noob to… a pretty well-seasoned player. I even played A Link to the Past in preparation for the game, which was a fantastic experience all its own.

I have so many nostalgic moments from my adventure through Hyrule and Lorule painted in my memory that it’s hard to really pin down a favorite. If I had to single one out, though, I think I might pick the first night when I, tucked cozy in my warm bed, played through the Eastern Palace and faced off with Yuga for the first time. The place was familiar, yet different. Seeing how it changed from A Link to the Past was truly a treat. The anticipated meeting with Yuga and the first uses of the wall-merge ability were both such exhilarating experiences that I’ll never forget.

There’s also the Ice Ruins. That dungeon has always stood as one of my favorites from the game, right alongside Thieves’ Hideout. The vibes are oddly peaceful for an ice dungeon, the descent through Death Mountain is so satisfying, and the boss is so well executed. That dungeon truly fits the theme and style of the game. My biggest take away has to be the music though. It just sets the mood of the dungeon so well. I remember playing it in the car as I rode around with my dad, and then later at home as I had the house all to myself with no responsibilities save for saving Hyrule. When I go to replay A Link Between Worlds for the anniversary, it will be the dungeon I’ll look forward to the most.

I’ve got countless memories from A Link Between Worlds that will stick with me forever. There are too many for this article, but I imagine I’ll go over some of them in another. I wonder what my favorites will be ten years from now on the game’s 20th anniversary. Only time will tell.
