The title screen in Zelda games often sets the tone for what the story is about. In Twilight Princess, we see Link galloping around Hyrule before we see his wolf form howling at the castle. In Majora’s Mask, the camera pans around Clock Town, as characters go about their business, before the music slowly morphs into something more haunting as we see the Moon and Skull Kid. The title screen serves as the introduction before we dive into the game.

Personally, the title screen for Breath of the Wild was disappointing. I imagine Nintendo chose this style to keep the mystery within the game; however, it was lifeless and cold with its gradual transition of images we already seen in the artwork. For the sequel, I’d love for them to go back to that old style where we see Link galloping around Hyrule as the camera zooms outward so we can see the world.

An interactive title screen can serve well for Breath of the Wild 2 as well. I think it’ll be fascinating to see Link sitting by a campfire in the location we last saved, before we press that start button. Or if he’s in town, he wakes up from a nap in an inn, as we begin our gameplay. Small interactions as these can give the game life, which the title screen in Breath of the Wild severely lacked. This active starting screen is a style we are witnessing in other games; but I think it will be fresh take for Breath of the Wild 2.

What type of title screen would you like to see for the sequel? Do you prefer the static screen seen in Breath of the Wild? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
