Daily Debate: Should Nintendo Give Ocarina of Time the Final Fantasy VII Remake Treatment?

With Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth releasing this month and hearing all the fans theorize about what differences this game’s story will have to the original, I have been pondering about potential opportunities Nintendo would have if they gave the same treatment to one of the best games they’ve ever created: Ocarina of Time.
Yes, Ocarina of Time already got a remake treatment with Ocarina of Time 3D on the Nintendo 3DS, but I’m talking about a true, open-world, modern remake. A game that not only improves the graphics, but adds to the story, deepens character development, and expands that version of Hyrule. It has been so cool to see how Square Enix has taken a beloved classic like Final Fantasy VII and created a new version of the game that’s so massive, it will take a full trilogy to tell the full story. And fans are eating it up.
I would love to see a rerelease of any of the classic Zelda games that takes this route! It would be amazing to see our favorite stories in 4k with so much more depth to them, but I think the potential is truly there in Ocarina of Time. That game is a gem that keeps shining on through the years. I would give anything to see a new, improved version of it!
What do you think? Would you like to see Nintendo give Ocarina of Time or another older Zelda title the Final Fantasy VII Remake treatment? Let me know in the comments!
