The more I watch the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom (I’ve lost count at how many times I’ve seen them) the more questions I have. One in particular question stems from the latest and final trailer: Are there two Master Swords in this adventure?

At one point, we’ve seen that the Master Sword Link is holding in some clips gets absolutely trashed by Ganondorf’s Malice. It looks melted and unsalvageable. However, in other clips, we see Princess Zelda holding a fully intact Master Sword, begging for Link to find her, implying that he needs to get the sword from her if he has any hope of stopping the Gerudo King.

So what gives? Are Link and Zelda in different worlds or different times? Does one world have a Master Sword that hasn’t been touched by Ganondorf, while Link still carries his damaged version of the weapon? Something is fishy here. I for one think that our Princess and Hero might be in different time periods, where Zelda has the Master Sword of the past that is still able to vanquish Ganondorf, and Link’s may not be of use anymore.

We will know in the next few days. (Can you believe it’s almost here?)

What do you think about the cryptic glimpses of the Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom? Could there be two versions of the blade in this game? Let me know in the comments!
