Check Out “Drinking Quest: Belch of the Wild,” A Zelda-Themed Tabletop RPG

If you’re a fan of tabletop role-playing games (TTRPG) like Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder, then you may have heard of Drinking Quest from Jason Anarchy Games. In the game, you take on the role of a pre-made character with different traits and abilities, and you then draw cards that make up quests for your band of heroes. You can fight monsters, score treasure, or level up abilities. The quests are written with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor that lovingly parodies the absurdities often found in TTRPGs. And, turning the entire experience into an elaborate drinking game, the various cards also prompt you to take a drink at certain times.
That’s why I’m excited about the announcement for Drinking Quest: Belch of the Wild, the latest addition to the Drinking Quest series. If it wasn’t obvious from its title, Belch of the Wild is a send-up of the Legend of Zelda series. There are four new quests, including “Dryrule: Be the life of the party in the scenic land of Dryrule,” and a new “Annoying Sidekick” system “which adds custom character creation by picking a hero and matching them with an Annoying Sidekick.” Like I mentioned before, the other Drinking Quest games are great at parodying TTRPGs, so I know the references and jokes about The Legend of Zelda will be great.
Currently, Jason Anarchy Games is taking pledge sign-ups via BackerKit right here. Those who sign up will be notified via e-mail when the game launches sometime in the second quarter of 2023.
