Hey there, Zelda fans! Are you ready for another spooktacular Caption Contest?! With Halloween less than two weeks away, we’re continuing our showcase of strange and scary images from the Zelda series. This week’s contest image comes from one of my favorite moments from Skyward Sword: the end of Cawlin’s Gratitude Crystal side quest. If the player chooses to give Cawlin’s love letter to the mysterious ghost hand in the Knight Academy bathroom, they will come to find the hand swooning over a sleeping Cawlin in his bedroom at night. It’s quite a silly — if slightly unsettling — scene, and it seemed perfect for this week’s contest.

Last Week’s Contest:

We managed to scare at least one child with our contest image last week.

Here are our non-photo caption winners:

  • Spaghetti: “I’ve come to talk to you about your car’s extended warranty.”
  • Stormslaye: Link: “Yeah, this game can be rated E, nothing scary here in the slightest!”
    Nintendo: “Ok, cool.”
Dead Hand: “I’M RIGHT HERE, YOU KNOW!”
  • Rito merchant: “when something unpleasant happens but you are already dead inside”
  • not you: “I can’t wait for 64 bit nightmares!”
  • JDAT: “So you want to learn how to beat Demi… I mean Ganondorf”

This Week’s Contest:

I think Link just standing there is the silliest part of this image.

Here are the guidelines:

  • Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages. When in doubt, keep it Nintendo.
  • If you don’t have the ability to edit the image, just leave it as a comment. We make sure to have a separate list of winners for this category.
  • Photo editing and manipulation (i.e. Photoshop) is allowed, but these entries will be part of a separate list of winners for this category.
  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Dungeon. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another… and that’s OK.
  • Have fun and be creative!

Don’t forget to check back throughout the week and upvote your favorites, and, who knows?  Maybe you will be one of next week’s winners.
