It seems like every few months there is still something new discovered in Breath of the Wild, whether it’s a new glitch or just some other tidbit that was previously not in the public knowledge. While the “Impossible Arrow” has been known about for a few months now, nobody has ever been able to collect it until recently. Glitch hunter Luke Steelman, known as “LegendofLinkk,” was the first person to reach it, and he went to great lengths (literally) to do so!

The Impossible Arrow is actually one of many “Impossible” items in the game — normally including Treasure Chests, but sometimes it can be other game assets — all of which exist out of the game’s boundaries. Normally they could never be reached, hence the name, but through glitches sometimes they can be accessed. The Impossible Arrow is a Shock Arrow that exists so high above Gerudo Town, it is beyond the game’s skybox. It cannot even be seen, which is why it was only discovered sometime back in April of 2021, Steelman has estimated.

In a video posted on January 21st, 2022, Steelman finally reached the arrow in spectacular fashion. First he triggered the moon jump glitch, followed by the Permanent Apparatus glitch, which allows for infinite jumping and gives Link total invincibility, respectively. Lastly, he got Death Mountain Storage, prepping him for the planned ascent. With the Sheikah Slate set to search for Shock Arrows, he moon jumped 1700 meters (~9 minutes) to the soft height gap. At this point moon jumping is not enough to get Link to clip through the boundary – the solution was to use bomb arrows to force Link through, since ragdolling ignores the soft height gap. The method caused him to overshoot the Arrow, so after a descent involving spamming jump and the A button, and some careful positioning to the Shock Arrow, it was finally obtained!

You can check out the video above to see the glitches in action to get the elusive prize!

Since then, the process has been refined by El Duende 05, who discovered that it only takes ~600 bomb arrows to get 300 meters beyond the soft height gap, and closer to where the arrow is, making the descent a bit easier. It would also appear that there is a small invisible patch of water above Gerudo Town!

Will you try to reach the Impossible Arrow, or do you want to clip beyond the soft height gap to try some other things? Sound off in the comments below!
