This past November, composer Giovanni Rotondo announced a community collaboration project inspired by Tears of the Kingdom‘s Stable Trotters. Rotondo, known for the 8-bit Time Adventures collection of fan albums, has worked with fans to design the album and its features. Fans have been voting on various components of the album, from the tracklist to the album cover. Fans following the project have even been treated to a live preview performance of music from the album.

In a recent update to the Stable Trotters project, Rotondo shared the following:

I’m thrilled to share the latest updates on the development of “The Stable Trotters” album. The journey thus far has been incredible, thanks to your support and enthusiasm. My ambition for this album was always to create something more than just a novelty; I wanted to produce a collection of tracks that would be cherished and replayed many times over. I’m excited to say that, with your help, this dream is fast becoming a reality. The arrangements are not only individually strong but also form a compelling sequence when played together.

Rotondo also shared several updates coming out of the latest community “Choice Quest” poll. He shared that he was “touched to see such strong support for the inclusion of original compositions. I’m eager to take on this challenge!” In response to the interest shown in digital downloads, Rotondo is developing a Magic Deck Record card for the album. This card will act as a collectable that one can scan to access the music tracks; it will be a unique way to access the music digitally and still have a physical object to admire and collect.

Finally, Rotondo shared this exciting news regarding the album’s cover art:

I’ve completed my search for a graphic artist and am thrilled to announce Jae Sern (follow on Instagram here) as the chosen artist. Jae’s incredible talent for landscape art makes him the ideal collaborator for this project…

Jae Sern is a self-taught fantasy artist who focuses on magical creatures and vast landscapes. He is based in Malaysia and has been making concept art and illustrations for over three years now. When he’s not working on his digital art, he likes to let loose painting with oils instead.

You can check out Jae Sern’s concept art for the album below.

The fifth and final Choice Quest is now open right here. This is the last chance fans will have to provide their input to the Stable Trotters album. You can help choose the narrative of the original track, decide on digital bonus tracks, and even add your own suggestions.

What do you think? Have you been supporting the creation of the Stable Trotters album? Let us know in the comments!
