With the release of Majora’s Mask 3D as close as ever, review outlets are beginning to share more of their footage from the game. Yesterday, Game Informer streamed an hour of gameplay, offering commentary on their experiences with the game’s opening. The recording follows the player’s first encounters in Clock Town, hide-and-seek with the Bombers, and the first confrontation with Skull Kid.

During the broadcast, Game Informer also played footage from the Nintendo 64 Majora’s Mask that reflected their live footage of Majora’s Mask 3D. We’ve seen many comparisons between the 3DS and N64 versions already, but this stream was the most unflattering to the original I’ve seen thus far. I suspect Game Informer darkened their N64 footage a bit, but regardless, the game looked very brown and very unpleasant to look at compared to the remake.

The gentlemen that streamed the game made some interesting observations of Majora’s Mask 3D changes. For example, they revealed that the hide-and-seek locations of the Bombers have changed a bit. Now, one Bomber is located in a box near the Laundry Pool instead of in North Clock Town, and another in a box in South Clock Town instead of in East Clock Town holding a Cucco. They also pointed out small things like the stairs in game are still a flat texture rather than fully modeled steps, strong graphical improvements to Southern Swamp, and new gyroscopic controls for the Astral Observatory telescope.

What else did you notice? Are you looking forward to footage from later in the game? Let us know.
